CMC 5090: R.O. Cleaner Alkaline is high pH membrane cleaner for removal of organics foulant and scale.

Application

CMC 5090 is a liquid high pH membrane cleaner, specifically developed to remove organic foulants containing deposits and secondary organic scale.

Recommended Use Directions

  • Always follow the membrane manufacturer’s recommendations for pH, cleaning temperature and contact time.
  • The typical dilution ratio for CMC 5090 membrane alkaline cleaner is a 1- 10% range but never exceed membrane pH limitations, recommended PH 10.
  • Cleaning instructions are outlined in the cleaning procedures. All feeding equipment used to handle this product should be constructed of stainless steel, PP, PVC or PTFE.

Cleaning Procedure

Listed below, some standard cleaning procedures.

  • Follow the membrane manufacturers’ recommended guidelines for pH, temperature and contact time.
  • Flush with permeate for 5-10 minutes to remove any service concentrate and feedwater foulants;
  • Prepare cleaning solution: 1-5% CMC 5090. Adjust pH gradually with NaOH if necessary;
  • Circulate about 1 hour at ambient temperature;
  • For heavily fouled systems, soak for 2 hours, re-circulate every 30 minutes for about 10 minutes (30 minute soak, followed by 10 minute circulate, followed by 30 minute soak –etc.)
  • Drain the cleaning solution to disposal tank;
  • Flush with permeate for 5-10 minutes, make sure all chemicals are flushed out;
  • Restart the RO-production and reject the permeate for process until the necessary quality is reached. Measure after 1 hour the operating parameters to evaluate cleaning efficiency.

Handling Precautions & Safety

Wear suitable protective gloves and safety goggles. In case of contact immediately flush with plenty of water. After eye contact seek medical advice.

In case of spillage, absorb with sand or other absorbent materials and sweep up. Then flush the area with water.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool (recommended 35Cº), dry and good ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed after opening. Prevent direct sun light.

Maximum Storage Period

24 Months under standard storage conditions.
